Frequently asked
How much does a move cost?
Your price is the hourly crew rate times the hours worked, plus a one-time truck and travel fee. The estimator above shows crew, trucks and hours; our office confirms the rate for your date by phone and in writing.
Do you charge for drive time?
Driving to your pickup is covered by the truck and travel fee. Drive time between your homes is part of the job. When the two addresses are more than 30 miles apart, that drive is billed as double driving.
Do I have to pack everything myself?
No. We can pack everything, finish what you've started, or just move boxes you've packed. Boxed and taped before we arrive is the fastest and cheapest way.
How do I hold my date?
A $100 deposit for hourly moves, or 10% of the total for flat-rate moves, applied to your final bill. It's fully refundable if you cancel or reschedule at least 24 hours before the move.
What if something gets damaged?
Basic protection (60¢ per pound per item) is included. Full replacement protection is available on request before move day. Small damage can be settled on the spot; otherwise send photos within 30 days.
Do you move pianos?
Upright pianos up to 800 lb on ground level, at no extra fee. We don't move grand pianos or pianos up or down stairs, and we'll refer you to a specialist.
Do you move gun safes?
Yes, up to 600 lb. Ground level is no extra fee; up or down one floor is $200 flat. Anything heavier or higher goes to a safe specialist.
What counts as a flight of stairs?
Seven or more steps in a row. A few porch or entry steps don't count.
What won't you move?
Anything flammable or pressurized (propane, gasoline, paint thinner), ammunition, and pets. Cash, jewelry, documents and medication should travel with you.
What makes a move take longer?
Stairs and elevators, a long walk from the truck to the door, items that aren't packed yet, heavy or fragile pieces, and long drives between homes. A one-bedroom up three flights is a different job from one on the ground floor, so the estimator asks about each of these.
How can I save time on move day?
Have everything boxed and taped before we arrive, reserve elevators and loading docks, save truck parking near the entrance, empty dresser and desk drawers, disconnect appliances the day before, and keep cash, jewelry, documents and medication with you.
What's included on every move?
Moving blankets, shrink wrap (mattresses too), wardrobe boxes for move day, dollies, straps, and taking apart and putting back together beds, cribs and tables. Blankets and wardrobe boxes go back with the crew unless you buy them.
Can I buy boxes and materials?
Yes. Boxes, wardrobe boxes, blankets and mattress bags are available to buy. Ask our office.
What protection options do I have?
Released value is included free: 60¢ per pound per item, so a 30 lb TV pays up to $18. Full replacement coverage, which repairs or replaces items at today's cost up to the value you declare, is quoted by our office and must be chosen before move day. Many customers also check their homeowner's or renter's policy.
Are you licensed and insured?
Yes. Denver Movers is a trade name of Origin Movers LLC, Colorado PUC household goods permit HHG-00801, with commercial auto, general liability and cargo insurance.
Do you move pool tables and gym equipment?
Gym equipment and treadmills at no extra charge; tell us ahead so we bring the right crew. Pool tables only once a technician has taken them apart.
Do you unpack boxes?
Unpacking isn't part of move day, but we can schedule it as a separate visit.
Do you move out of state?
Not right now. We move within Colorado: starting within about 100 miles of Denver and ending anywhere in the state.
Can you send my building a certificate of insurance?
Yes. Tell us the building's requirements when you book. You reserve elevators and loading docks with your building.
How far ahead should I book?
Two to three weeks is ideal, longer for month-end and summer weekends. We often fit in short-notice moves on weekdays.
Do you offer flat rates?
For long moves within Colorado we can quote a flat rate, with a 10% deposit.
How can I pay?
Credit card, cash, cashier's check or Bitcoin. We don't accept personal checks.
Do you take furniture apart?
Yes: beds, cribs, tables and similar furniture are included. We don't disconnect appliances, plumbing or gas.
Should I tip the crew?
Tips are never required and never added automatically. If you tip, 100% goes to the crew.
